What are the advantages of staying in chambres d'hôtes ?
Chambres d’hôtes are a popular accommodation option where local people extend their hospitality to you. They are the French equivalent of B&Bs. You can stay for just one night or longer, in a private house where the owner provides guest accommodation in 1 to 5 bedrooms at most.
Single, double and family rooms are available, and the rooms must meet comfort standards and comply with chambres d’hôtes regulations.
Facilities include one or more communal areas (kitchen, living room, library, lounge etc.), and some chambres d'hôtes will also offer outdoor amenities (a swimming pool, grounds, a garden, etc.), which are shared with other guests and the owners.
Guests are entitled to privacy and to come and go as they please, but the owners must nonetheless be on hand to respond to any questions their visitors may have.
Breakfast is always included as part of your stay in a chambre d’hôtes. Many owners also offer a table d’hôte dinner, which involves sitting down with them to a home-cooked meal of locally sourced produce.

The owners of gîtes and furnished lets may live in another house some distance away or in part of the same family property. In all cases, guests are entitled to privacy. The owners meet their guests on arrival and departure (to hand over the keys and carry out the arrival and departure inventory).
These holiday lets are equipped to ensure guests’ comfort during their stay, with living rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, fully-equipped kitchens and so on. They may include outdoor amenities such as a swimming pool, barbecue, park or garden, to make your stay all the more enjoyable.
