      Le Chemin des Bonshommes – Ariège – Foix to Berga

      From Foix in Ariège to Berga in Spain, the Chemin des Bonshommes (one of the names that the Cathars called themselves) follows in the footsteps of the Cathars who fled the Inquisition and sought refuge in Catalonia. A total of 7 days' walking, it can be done in sections, on day walks for example.

      The Chemin des Tisserands - Ariège - Lavelanet to Montségur

      From Lavelanet town centre to the pog of the Château de Montségur, you follow the medieval route taken by the people of Montségur who descended to the valley to sell their woven cloths. Many Cathars plied the trade of weaver, using the wool from the sheep they farmed in the mountains. Allow a good half day for this energetic walk.

      The Sentier Cathare – Aude and Ariège - Port-la-Nouvelle to Foix

      This 200km hike starts on the Mediterranean coast and ends in Ariège, climbing through garrigue, vineyards, forests, gorges and mountains. Notable stopping points along the way include Quéribus, Peyrepertuse, Puilaurens, Puivert and Montségur. The Montségur-Roquefixade stage (17 km) connects two sites that are emblematic of Catharism in Midi-Pyrénées.
